Darren quickly runs out of the elevator and grabs my face, tracing his fingers over my cheek, I hold back from the pain. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” He states in disbelief as he pulls me into the empty elevator.
“Who the fuck did this to you?” He demands to know, pure venom in his voice. I flinch from his voice, I’ve never heard him talk or look like this before.
“C-Chris.” I say quietly but loud enough for him to hear, his hands are still cupping my face. My breathing is still heavy, I’m still crying, I still look like a disaster.
“Who the fuck is Chris?” He yells, making me flinch once again as he takes his hands off of me, but still hovering over me. I feel his eyes trace down to my neck, he notices the hickeys Chris left me.
Pure anger flashes in his eyes. “C-can we just go to your apartment p-please.” I plead. All I need is Darren, but I need him to be calm because he is making me scared.
“That’s where we’re going.” He says as the elevator opens, he quickly takes my hand, sending electric shocks up my body, but besides that, he leads me to his apartment and opens it.
“Here.” He says, taking off the black sweatshirt and handing it to me, he looks away signaling for me to take the ripped up shirt off and to put the sweatshirt off.
I take my ripped up shirt off of me and put the sweatshirt on, my senses quickly go to his sweatshirt because it smells good and is really warm.
“O-okay.” I stutter, still crying.
He turns around, once he realizes that I’m crying, his anger in his eyes go away and come to complete worry. He takes one step towards me and pulls me into a warm hug, holding my waist as I cry harder. My arms wrap around his neck, making it wet from my tears.
“I’m sorry Lucy for scaring you, I didn’t mean to.” He states, knowing exactly what he made me feel.
I nod my head, telling him it’s okay because I don’t need him feeling bad for anything. After a few minutes we pull apart, making my body feel cold and lonely.”
“Do you want to talk about it?” He asks.
“Yes.” I state.
He nods, taking my hand and walking me to the couch as we both sit down. We sit there for a good five minutes until I decide to tell him what exactly happened. I told him from how I first saw him, then met him at work and about him inviting me, and then what happened tonight and how it happened.
The only thing I can read from his facial features is that he’s pissed the fuck off. I don’t know what he’s thinking but I can’t tell that it’s not good stuff. After he stares at me for a few seconds, he pulls me on top of him, hugging my waist, sending another jolt of electrical shocks up my body. I wrap my arms once again around his neck as we sit on the couch.
“He will never fucking touch you again, I will keep you safe.” He says, those words are the words I’ve been wanting to hear my whole life. Those are the words I’ve never gotten to hear.
Darren is something else, he makes me feel things I’ve never felt before, he makes me feel myself, he makes me feel safe, and he makes me feel like someone new.
And that feeling is the best feeling in the world.
My eyes open to the bright light of Darren’s apartment bedroom. I must’ve fallen asleep last night while Darren and I were hugging each other because I don’t remember anything after that.
I wrap my arm around his torso and and nudge my head right under his arm so that we’re cuddling.
Last night was something that I’ve never felt with anyone before. The way Darren made me feel, it was something else. He was exactly what I needed last night, and when I say exactly what I needed, I needed him.
I feel him move a little bit, then he starts to stretch. “This is something I could wake up to every morning.” He states, making me laugh.
“Me too.” I say, smiling up at him.
“But sadly, this has to end because my mom and sister are coming over at any moment and I don’t know if you’d want to be here.” He says while looking up at the ceiling.
I take my arm off his torso and sit upwards, but still under the blankets. “Yeah, it would probably be a bad idea if I stayed.”
“Yeah, it wouldn’t be good if you poured water on my mother too.” He states, I instantly turn around and playfully smack him on the shoulder. “Hey, hey, hey! It was an accident though, right?” He says sarcastically.
Well now I know he knows I did that on purpose and that it’s pretty damn embarrassing. “I could possibly be the jealous type.” I laugh, while getting up out of bed.
“Oh really?” He says sarcastically, laughing while he gets up out of bed, walking out into the living room.
I follow him out of his bedroom, embarrassed as hell. “But, I’m actually really sorry about that. I don’t know what got into me.” I say honestly, even though I knew exactly what I was doing.
“Lucy it’s okay, it was funny.” He says, both of us standing in the living room.
“Alright, I’m going to go so I don’t accidentally spill water on someone again.” I say while laughing.
He smiles, pulling me into a hug. As he wraps his hands around my waist, I wrap my hands around his neck. Just as we’re about to pull apart, the door bursts open. Two women, one of them was from the bar which has to be his sister and the other one is a bit aged, but has the same blue eyes as the lady and Darren.
We pull apart quickly, shocked that they came so early. I awkwardly stand there as both of them raise an eyebrow. Darren scratches his head nervously as his sister and mom stand there, trying to figure out who I am.
Darren walks towards his mom, engulfing her in a big hug. “Uh, hi mom.” He says, kissing her on the cheek.
His sister stares me down, probably trying to figure out who I am. Either she doesn’t remember or she does remember. “So, who’s this?” His mom says.
His mom has short dark brown hair like Darren, bright blue eyes, and has on a white professional outfit on. Something tells me that both his sister and mom are uptight, but then again if his sister was uptight she would’ve freaked out when I spilled water on her.
“Uh, she was just leaving.” He states, I feel his eyes on me.
“Yeah, um, I have something, it’s really important and I’m kind of late.” I lie, trying to make up something as to why I have to leave.
This is the worst thing that could’ve ever happened because if his mom and sister find out I’m his student, that will be horrible. But maybe they won’t take it as serious as we think they both will.
“Before you go, I think it would be great if you’d come to dinner with us tonight so we can properly meet since you don’t have time to.” His mom says, smiling.
My eyes open widely while looking at Darren. What do I say? Do I say yes? But thankfully Darren answers for me. “Yes, I think you should come.” He says, my head quickly turns toward him, raising my eyebrow as to why in the hell he just said that.
“Uh, yes I’d love to come, but I should really get going, I’m going to be late.” I state, walking towards the door. “Uh, bye.” I awkwardly say as I step out of the door, closing it on the way out.
That was the most awkward position I’ve ever been in, but something I should be worrying about more is that I’m going to dinner with Darren and his family.
This will be something I’ll never forget.
